This public space project is built on the spirit of courage, determination, and action that Terry Fox embodied.

The final art and landscape design - which will be revealed in a juried national public art competition - will create a setting to inspire visitors, ignite passion, spark action and create impact. We see this projecthonoring our heritage, looking to the future and being an icon of shared values.

Though 37 years have passed, many thousands of Torontonians still vividly remember Terry Fox running through the city on his Marathon of Hope. For Terry and his family, Toronto was a turning point when all of Canada seemed attuned to his journey. The time is overdue for this generation to honor his selfless heroism, his leadership, positive energy and unfailing hope, in a public gathering place mere footsteps from his route through Toronto. Terry was a young Canadian who exceeded his potential. Yet, his noble pursuit of a cure for cancer has over four decades led others in Canada and around the world, to discover, innovate and persevere.

We envision a place where future generations will be galvanized into inspired action to continue his important work and altruistic spirit.
